BA Top-Up International Business

The BA International Business Top-Up degree caters students who wish to add an international dimension to their business education and who are aiming for a career in the global business market. It is equally attractive to students from all across the world and will give them the opportunity to live and work in any country of their choice. It is designed to provide the managers of tomorrow with the business and management skills. It will equip the student with the knowledge and skills required for managerial posts in any country. The international knowledge will be an important and positive factor in the personal development of students and will give them a competitive edge in the job market. This programme is purposefully designed to enable all students to engage meaningfully with the curriculum by being accessible and representative. The curriculum explicitly includes multiple and representative perspectives, valuing collective identities and individual diversity. The Bachelor of Art (Hons) in  International Business  is a one-year programme offered on full-time delivery mode that is designed to “top up” the students’ existing vocational qualification (e.g. UAE Higher Diploma, UK Higher National Diploma, Scottish Qualifications) It has been designed in line with international standards and aims to provide a high quality business education. The curriculum is carefully designed to integrate core business and specialised courses as detailed in the illustrative study plan.

Aims:

  •  Enable students to explore organisations, their management and the changing global economy in which they operate.
  • Prepare and develop students for a career in business and management, especially in an international context.
  • Develop and enhance students’ transferable, intellectual and study skills.
  • Foster an awareness of, and sensitivity to, their own and others’ cultural backgrounds and influences, which may include a knowledge of a language other than their own.
  • Produce readily employable graduates possessing lifelong learning skills to make an immediate contribution to employing organisations and society at large.

Our course has been developed in close collaboration with several leading professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
Your first year ‘Understanding Marketing’ module covers 95% of the syllabus for the CIM Award in Marketing Principles and you can sign up to take the exam.
Some of the core accounting modules provide exemptions from the CIMA exams.
